1. Grades 3 & 4 to Track Meet ~ Tuesday, April 26
Our third and fourth grades will take a “field trip” to Crane School for a multi-school track meet. The students will join our fifth graders there and participate in running and jumping events with an exciting 4 x 100 relay to conclude the day’s event.
Students will ride the bus to the event, which begins at 10:45 and ends no later than 3:00. The track meet often finishes around 2:30, so arriving by 2:30 is a good idea.

Students will NOT be transported back to Lower School after the track meet. Please plan to pick up your child at Crane School (1719 San Leandro Lane) or make car pool arrangements.

Have your child wear comfortable running shorts, athletic shoes, and a Laguna T-shirt (e.g., Jogathon, Field Day). If you do not have a Laguna shirt, please contact me and I’ll get one for you. Long hair should be tied back and out of the face. Send a bottle of water with your child. A hat and sun block are recommended.

Students will eat lunch at the event. Send your child to school with a “brown bag lunch.” If you usually order Silvergreens for your child, remember to cancel your order for this day. 

This has been a very fun experience in the past and we are certain for it to be fun again this year.

The last day to place online Scholastic book orders for March is this Friday.

Here are the logistics:

• Event will run from 9:00-12:00 with lunch following
• Buses will leave Lower School at 8:30
• T-shirts will be sent home on Thursday to be worn on Friday.  
• Kids should wear field day shirt, shorts, athletic shoes with socks, and sunscreen.  Hats are okay, too.  
• Activities will be played within age groups (EK-1, 2-4)
• AFTERCARE IS NOT AVAILABLE on this day
• Parents will indicate pick up on the note going home today. The options are:

• At the event
• At Lower School
• Stay with Kellen and Elyse for theater dress rehearsal on the Hope Ranch campus

• In the case of rain, alternative plans will be made with school still ending at 12:30, and the busing of students to Hope Ranch for theater (likely at noon).

• Valentine Exchange is on Thursday from 2:20-2:50
• Spelling test is on Thursday this week
• Parent/Teacher Conference Schedule goes online tonight, Monday, 2/8/16 at 7:00 (see Ms. McDavid’s email for details)

• Items for the time capsule project are due this Friday, 1/22/16
• Book Reports are due Friday 1/29/16
• January Scholastic Book Orders are due by the end of the day Wednesday, 1/20/16–Link to Scholastic Book Club Class Code is NJQYD

• Don’t forget to bring a White Elephant gift for tomorrow’s party. Make sure it is wrapped so that we can’t see what it is:)
• Book reports will be presented tomorrow morning.
• Make sure you have all the materials you need to work on your Genius Hour project.

• If your child happened to wear his or her name tag home from the field trip on Thursday, please make sure it is returned–thank you!
• Friday Folders come back on Monday with a signed note.
• Every Friday, we will work on  Genius Hour projects–check in with your child about materials.
• Make sure your child is NOT taking the spelling TEST on Spelling City before Friday (in class). They should be taking the PRACTICE test for homework. The test can only be taken once.
