Santa Cruz Island Trip–Details!

April11

Santa Cruz Island is my favorite trip of the year, and I can only imagine how beautiful the island will be this year after all the rain! Ms. Svedlund emailed the fourth grade parents about our upcoming trip. Here is a copy of that email:

Please note changes in red.

Here are some details that will help you plan ahead:

  • The boat trip to Santa Cruz Island will take about an hour and a half, barring any wildlife distractions, which we are always hoping for!
  • We’ll take a three-mile loop trail (a moderate to strenuous hike). We will have our own naturalist tour guide who will explain the unique natural and cultural resources found on the island. The guide will have educational games for the students.
  • Your child needs to be at the Lower School by 7:10 AM on Friday, April 28. The bus will leave promptly at 7:15 AM to make it to the Ventura Harbor by 8:00 AM. As this is a bonding experience, we hope that all students will ride the bus to the harbor with the teachers.
  •  Your child needs to be at the Lower School by 7:45 AM on Friday, April 28. The bus will leave promptly at 7:50 AM to make it to the Ventura Harbor by 8:30 AM. As this is a bonding experience, we hope that all students will ride the bus to the harbor with the teachers.
  • The boat is scheduled to return to the harbor at 5:00 PM, so we’ll be back at Lower School around 5:45-6:00 PM. On the way home, you can choose if your child will ride the bus or with you. Please let me know your plans for the ride home.
  • The boat is scheduled to return to the harbor at 4:30 PM, so we’ll be back at Lower School around 5:15-5:30 PM. On the way home, you can choose if your child will ride the bus or with you. Please let me know your plans for the ride home.
  • All fourth grade parents are invited to attend. The cost is $43 per person. Parents who choose to join us on the trip should carpool in their own cars.

More specific information about what to wear, bring, and expect will come home as we get closer to the date. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Ms. Svedlund
