For the past few weeks, the fourth graders have been researching and learning about the California missions. Last week, in technology class, they created a two-dimensional drawing of their mission using Kid Pix.

Today, they began to reconstruct their missions in Minecraft! I’ve rarely seen such excitement!! When I announced that we had the Minecraft server up and running, a loud cheer erupted. Working in pairs, they are using floor plans and photographs to recreate the design of their missions. Each team’s mission (pun intended) is to build the structure to scale and incorporate as many features of the original mission as possible. This project with require problem solving, cooperation, collaboration, and creativity. Mission accomplished!
