In fourth grade, we have been learning about tools that help us grow as leaders. Our first lesson was about being proactive, rather than reactive. Next, we set goals for the year. Students were encouraged to set academic and personal goals. We learned how to set S. M. A. R. T. goals–goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. Our most recent lesson was about prioritizing. We thought about the things we need to do as large rocks in a jar. We thought about the things we would like to do if we have time as gravel, sand, and water we could add to our jars. Students drew large rocks in their jars and labeled them with the things that are important (homework, family time, athletics, etc.). Around these, they wrote in the things that they want to do when  more important things are finished.
